Players considered a survival game on Steam already dead, but now its developers are back. Fans are now excited about a newly announced feature and the fact that the developers have not given up on their game yet.
What kind of game is this? This refers to Nightingale. The survival game from Inflexion Games launched on February 20, 2024, in early access on Epic and Steam. It has – over a year later – still not left it. Recently, players even asked if the game is already dead.

Players already thought Nightingale was dead
Why were players worried? Usually, the developers released monthly Dev Bites on YouTube. In this video format, they talk about the current updates to the game. But recently, these have been missing – the last of these videos was released in March, three months ago. Also, it has been quiet on their own Discord server from the developers’ side.
“Is the game dead?” asked ProffE in the discussions about Nightingale on Steam – that was on May 27, 2025. “No updates, no news?” While some players reckoned that the developers had abandoned their game, others were more optimistic:

The game was already dying after the release of the offline mode. […] Now it looks like they have completely given up on it.
- Mikey1339 was, however, sure: “The game is not dead. They are fixing bugs and such stuff.” But he also did not expect the next update to come soon.
- “I too have been worried about the lack of updates for this game. It’s incredibly fun, I love it – but since my purchase […] there hasn’t been an update, I’m starting to wonder if I bought a dead game,” wrote Lusid.
Developers return, players celebrate
These worries are now proving to be unfounded: On June 12, the developers finally released a new video. In it, they announced dedicated servers among other things. These have been in development for a long time and are set to come soon.

Fans are happy that the developers are still working on their game – and also about the new servers. So zhandroid520 wrote under the Dev Bite on YouTube: “As an admin of a gaming community, I am looking forward to the dedicated servers! Thank you for the updates!”
- 1darkthought is also happy: “I’m really glad to hear from you. Dedicated servers are great.”
- ega7072 joins the good mood: “I think it’s absolutely great that you are making the dedicated servers publicly available.”
The developers want to focus this summer on “finding the right way forward.” Although the recent reviews for the game on Steam are “mostly positive” (74%) they have still been rated as “mixed” overall (67%).
