For a long time, saddles could only be found through trading with villagers, as item drops, by fishing, or as random items in various chests. With a new update (via Minecraft.net), you will finally be able to craft saddles yourself. The Summer Drop 2025 is expected to be released in June.

How will you be able to craft the saddle? With the new Summer Drop 2025, versions JE 1.21.6 & BE 1.21.90, it will be possible to craft a saddle using 3 leather and one iron ingot. To do this, place one iron ingot in the center. Additionally, place one leather each to the left, right, and above the ingot.
This means you no longer have to hope to find a saddle early in the game or trade for one with a villager. You can also simply remove the saddle from one animal and put it on another.
Saddles are useful because they allow you to move more easily through the world on animals, especially at the beginning, as your hunger bar does not suffer from riding. With the new craftable saddles, you can also equip multiple animals without having to search for multiple saddles.
With this, you will be able to ride horses, donkeys, mules, camels, skeleton horses, and zombie horses in the latest version. If you want to control a pig, you will need a carrot on a stick.
