In League of Legends Riot Games will remove the mode that has been in the game for 14 years and has hardly changed: The “Blind Pick” mode has become outdated. It is hardly played anymore and will soon be history: Riot Games wants to replace it with a new LoL mode that is similar but better.
What kind of old mode is this?
- The “Blind Pick” mode is actually like a normal match, but there is no draft phase where players choose their characters.
- In this mode, there is also no role selection, so players have to communicate about which position they want to play. Since you don’t know which champions will be on the opponent’s team, it’s also possible to choose the same champion.
- This mode was actually intended for beginners or rushed players because it leads to the game much faster and is less complex than other modes, but nowadays the mode no longer works.
“Blind Pick” mode is simply not played anymore
What’s the problem with the mode? It is simply hardly played anymore.
As Riot reports, it is the least popular mode in League of Legends and the situation is getting worse: Hence, a replacement is needed.
On reddit a player explained that Blind Pick is pointless today, only divides the player base, and offers a poor gameplay experience for beginners.
Since Riot Games has perfected the “Draft Pick”, there is no longer any reason for the system.
This is the replacement: On the test server of LoL, the PBE, the replacement mode is already available. It is called “Quick Play”.
As it is known, the new mode is supposed to be released in 2023. Even if it is not playable just yet, Quick Play will likely be coming soon (via 3djuegos).
2 roles, pick 2 champs, press “Search” and the match begins
This is how the new mode in LoL will work: Quick Play will be a bit more binding than the normal mode, but is still supposed to lead to quick games:
- When selecting the mode, you enter a lobby and choose a primary and a secondary position you would like to play.
- For both positions, you pick a champion – just not the same one.
- Now the system searches for a suitable match, and as soon as one is found, you immediately enter the loading screen.
This is supposed to enable a quick game, a Quick Play indeed.
It is expected that the new mode will be introduced into the official game within the next weeks.
