The survival shooter DayZ has now been around for 10 years. With the release of the new DLC, the game is experiencing a new player peak of over 500,000 players and is also performing well on Steam.
What is DayZ Frostline? Frostline is the first and currently only DLC for the survival shooter DayZ. The former Arma 2 mod has now been live for over 10 years and brings new content with the expansion. Here is a selection:
- New map located in the Far East
- Winter landscape Sakhal, where players must pay attention to heat for the first time
- New animals
- New gameplay mechanics such as boats
Following the launch on October 15, 2024, a significant number of new and returning players likely dove into the game. Through their publisher Level Infinite, developer Bohemia Interactive announced that a new player record of over 500,000 daily players was reached by October 20.

Where do the players come from? In their post on the Level Infinite homepage, the developer states that on October 20, they had a total of 501,222 logins. Here’s the breakdown:
- 235,618 Steam players; peak at 79,000 concurrent players (78,937 according to Steam DB)
- 113,897 PlayStation players, peak at 33,000 concurrent players
- 152,037 Xbox players; peak at 36,000 concurrent players
Whether the peaks for PlayStation and Xbox players are accurate unfortunately cannot be verified because these numbers are not officially disclosed.
What does the community think of the DLC? In fact, Frostline is rated mostly positive
on Steam. Players praise the map, the gameplay, and the scope of the DLC.
At the same time, they criticize existing bugs, including one that hinders many mods for the game. There is also still a lot of clipping.
The PlayStation community rates the expansion with 4.33 out of a maximum of five stars. 77% of the reviews give five stars, while only 13% have given a maximum of one star.
In the Xbox store, the DLC has received only 30 ratings so far. Overall, Frostline has only three out of five possible stars here.
