Activision has revealed the name of the next installment of Call of Duty. The “Black Ops” series continues the popular shooter franchise.
What did Activision announce? Activision has finally confirmed what has long been a safe bet for many shooter fans: The next installment of the CoD series will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
To this end, the official Call of Duty channel posted a short teaser on x.com (formerly Twitter), featuring the game’s logo, which we are embedding here:
Leaks say BO6 is set during the Gulf War
Is there any information about BO6 already? Even before the announcement, there were leaks suggesting that the next CoD will once again be a Black Ops. It was also said that the shooter would take place during the Gulf War. Some in the community speculated that the game might be called “Black Ops: Gulf War.”
With the announcement of the name, Activision also confirmed that the 2020 released Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is considered the fifth installment of the “Black Ops” series.
As reported by Insider-Gaming, BO6 will offer not only the well-known multiplayer experience but also a campaign. This campaign is said to take place entirely in an open world for the first time in the franchise’s history.
Furthermore, The Verge reported that more about Black Ops 6 will be revealed on June 9. That’s when Microsoft’s big Xbox Showcase takes place, followed by a separate CoD presentation. During the showcase, it is also expected to be announced that Black Ops 6 will be included in Game Pass. The Verge also states that Activision aims to release BO6 at the end of October.
In the current Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the third season is still ongoing, but Activision has already released the roadmap for the upcoming Season 4.
