During the PC Gaming Show, the developers of Torchlight 3 announced that their game can now be played in Early Access on Steam. The action RPG only needs to be purchased once.
When can Torchlight 3 be played? The action RPG has been playable since today, June 13, via Steam.
The game was released as Buy2Play in Early Access and costs a one-time fee of 29.99 euros. Here’s the Steam page for Torchlight 3.
In addition, a new trailer has been released that introduces the game:
An alternative for players waiting for Diablo 4?
What is Torchlight 3? Torchlight 3 is an action RPG and plays similarly to Diablo, even though the graphics are very cartoonish:
- You choose a hero
- explore the game world with them
- follow the story through different acts
- and loot and level up to your heart’s content.
Originally, it was supposed to come out as Torchlight Frontiers and have more MMO elements. In early 2020, however, it was announced that the game would return to its roots.
The MMO elements were scaled back, allowing players to recruit companions for missions in towns. Additionally, the character progression was adjusted to be linear again, like in the previous Torchlight and Torchlight 2.
What is special about the game? One highlight of Torchlight 3, mentioned in the PC Gaming Show, are the forts that you can design yourself and visit each other.
Also, the quirky classes like the Railmaster are a unique selling point.
