What is SMITE? Essentially, it is a MOBA, but it is played a bit differently than you know from League of Legends (LoL) or Heroes of the Storm. Because you don’t see the action from the genre-typical isometric perspective, but play from the third-person perspective. This makes SMITE feel more like an action game.
In SMITE, you take on the role of gods you know from mythologies and religions around the world. This includes, for example, Zeus or Loki. Each god has their own skills as well as strengths and weaknesses. You must exploit the strategic possibilities of the gods and maps in teams in order to eliminate the opposing team in a MOBA match. To do this, you usually need to destroy their Titan, which sits on the other side of the battlefield, and prevent being overrun by the opposing team.

SMITE sets a new record
What is the current state of the game? SMITE has set a new player record on Steam in the past 30 days according to Steamcharts. 31,169 players played the action MOBA simultaneously, the most ever on Steam.
The ratings on Steam in the last 30 days are at 81% positive. The total of 79,254 ratings also amounts to 81%.
What is the reason for the game’s success? There are several reasons why SMITE is successful. One reason is that it doesn’t play like a typical MOBA and its action-packed gameplay appeals to players who feel more at home in such games.
In addition, regular updates bring new content like additional gods or maps, as well as balance adjustments. For example, the new god Danzaburou was introduced last November. Especially new, crazy skins are well received. For example, in collaborations such as with the Ninja Turtles.
