The release of Far Cry 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC is just a few days away. Now there is new information about microtransactions and an offline mode.
Many of you are eagerly awaiting the release of Far Cry 5 on March 27. Then you can embark on the adventure in Hope County on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. But what do the microtransactions in the game bring? And do you have to be online to play?
Microtransactions without Pay-2-Win Elements
Payment options in video games have almost become standard. Here a new skin, there an emote – That’s how you buy some changes for your game in the in-game shop. There will also be microtransactions in Ubisoft’s latest installment of the Far Cry series.
GameSpot spoke with Executive Producer Dan Hay about the payment options. He says the offerings that Far Cry 5 provides to players are substantial. Anyone who wants to accelerate their progress and is willing to pay can do so. However, how exactly these options will manifest in the game is unclear.
The community speculates that in-game currency can be purchased, which can then somehow be used in the shop for faster progress.
Ubisoft also commented on this topic on Reddit and stated that the microtransactions are fair. There are no paywalls – everything can be acquired solely through playing. The in-game currency silver bars are scattered throughout the game and can be found by you. The purchasable items are only supposed to be cosmetic or time-saving. Everything you buy remains permanent and there are no loot boxes.
Entire Campaign of Far Cry 5 Offline
In an interview with GameSpot, Ubisoft also confirmed that the entire campaign is playable offline. Anyone who wants to play in co-op or multiplayer needs an internet connection. For those of you who drift through the campaign alone, no internet connection is required.
