During Christmas, players in Fortnite were able to not only open presents but also wreak havoc with new weapons from Chapter 4. However, one was still in the game despite a bug and is now only being fixed weeks later. We will show you what was broken.
What was the bug? In Fortnite, with Chapter 4 Season 1 many new weapons were brought into the game, including the brutal shockwave hammer. With this club, players can not only move quickly but also strike devastatingly and deal damage.
The problem, however, was that a nasty bug had crept in that made the shockwave hammer even more mobile than it should have been. The result was that players jumped around like rubber balls and wiped out opponents with ease. Here’s a video from reddit showing how the bug looked:
Epic Games is known for quickly and transparently removing and fixing bugs, but this time the team has taken a long time.
Bug causes trouble, but Epic Games is on vacation
When was the bug fixed? On January 9, the hammer was disabled and on January 10, the hotfix was finally introduced into the game. Considering how long Epic Games took to fix the error, it seems unusual for the team.
Therefore, players had to deal with some troublemakers from the community for weeks, who enjoyed the bug to the fullest. Despite this, the delayed fix also had some good reasons.
Those who have been playing Fortnite for a while will know that Epic Games takes a vacation during Christmas. The team is thus very understaffed, and errors are rarely addressed during this time. Additionally, as Gamespot reports, the hammer is also needed for many challenges which are only temporarily active.
You thus had the chance to be quite naughty over Christmas and have a blast on the battlefield.
How are players reacting to the fix? Players are looking forward to Epic Games finally taking action to fix the bug. Players comment on Twitter with the following statements:
- @BDG0716 – “It was about time!!!”
- @oShven – “Lol, it’s about time, let’s be honest, that unlimited glitch had to be patched”
- @YouTubeThunderr – “Thank God honestly, you make it too easy to find this crap, and this Goku crap was way too OP. Just never bring this crap back”
- @FrostSchneider – “Glad to hear that. Trying to chase unlimited jumpers was kind of ridiculous”
The fix of this hammer is just the beginning. Epic Games also has a collaboration with My Hero Academia that also has a broken weapon. This has been disabled since the end of 2022 and players still do not know when the fix will be released. It remains to be seen if the team will also provide new information regarding this.
How did you find the bug? Did you exploit it over Christmas or were you the victim and desperately tried to run away? Feel free to leave us a comment!
