Slowly but surely, the meta veil in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is lifting, and more often a certain weapon appears out of the fog: the DMR SP-R 208. We’ll show you what makes the weapon so strong and what setup you can use on MeinMMO.
You might have already noticed it in your killcams – a sniper rifle without a scope takes you out of the picture with one hit. And then again. And again…
This was almost certainly the SP-R 208. The weapon has been wreaking havoc in the lobbies shortly after release and provides spectacular kills, but also a lot of head-shaking when you’re sent back to spawn from a short distance.
Currently, the SP-R is one of the best weapons. It works excellently as a quickscope sniper, has an outstanding “ironsight” (iron sight), offers good movement, and almost the best part: it plays very comfortably even without attachments.

CoD MW2: SP-R 208 – The All-in-One Sniper
What makes the SP-R 208 so strong? If you are a fan of single-shot weapons, nothing currently comes close to the SP-R. Even the base weapon gives you a secure shooting feeling and goes into sight pretty quickly – optimal for quick shots at vulnerable upper bodies.
The combination of good movement, one-shot kills, and a decent sight speed makes the SP-R a versatile weapon shortly after release:

Note that you cannot unlock all attachments with each weapon in Modern Warfare 2. Go to the attachment in the gunsmith and check at the top left how to unlock the attachments.
For the Corio Laser, you need to level up the sniper weapon MCPR-300 to level 3. Weapon tuning is currently not possible by the way.
Definitely try the SP-R a bit without a scope first. The iron sights are so “clear” that you can land good hits even without zoom, even if enemies are far away.
Always aim quickly, pull the trigger, and seek cover. Aim for the upper area of the torso to take out enemies with one shot. You don’t need headshots for this – avoid belly, arms, or legs.
The more accurate you are, the more aggressively you can proceed with the device. The designation as the “best shotgun” should certainly be taken seriously.
In its current state, the SP-R 208 seems too strong; we expect a nerf at the latest by the start of Season 1 on November 16. Until then, the DMR will continue to cause nightmares – or highlight moments. Depending on which side of the killcam you find yourself on.
