In 2018, Destiny 2 released a super puzzle. The last piece of this puzzle has just been solved. The riddle was hidden on a wall: it could only be seen by placing the exotic weapon Sleeper Simulant just right.
What kind of puzzle was it? For the “Warmind” expansion of Destiny 2, Studio Vicarious Visions came up with a puzzle in May 2018. This was the “Rasputin’s Chamber Puzzle.”
The puzzle consisted of 6 pieces, and one had to use Braille or Morse code to decrypt individual pieces and obtain code words.
This puzzle was cracked in May 2018, but was never truly solved. Players figured out two of the three pieces and derived the solution for the missing 3rd word simply through the “Trial and Error” principle. It was the word “Mechanized.”
As a reward for the puzzle, there was a lore text and coordinates. Players then traveled in the real world to a national park in the US state of New York and unearthed their reward: a thank-you letter from Vicarious Visions and a bunch of “Three of Coins.”
Wall Hides Riddle
That was the missing solution: Two riddle finders have now made another attempt to determine where in Destiny 2 the word “Mechanized” was hidden. Apparently, it wouldn’t let them rest. They exchanged thoughts and information on Twitter about where in Destiny 2 the word might be hidden.
It was suspected that it had something to do with the exotic weapon “Sleeper Simulant”, as the icon of the weapon was mentioned in the puzzle. The symbol that had not been assigned to any of the solved sub-puzzles matched the symbol on the lens of the Sleeper Simulant.
One of the riddle enthusiasts then had a eureka moment. He aimed the Sleeper Simulant at a wall in the Mars location. And indeed: when he held the lens exactly where the target symbol of the Sleeper Simulant could be seen on the wall, the distance sensors on the lens marked letters that spelled “Mechanized” when arranged correctly.
That would have been the riddle that Guardians should have solved two years ago to obtain the loot in the intended manner. However, it has long since been plundered.
For the two riddle finders, there remains the satisfaction of having solved one of the last riddles of Destiny 2.
