Hatsune Miku is one of the biggest stars from Japan, even though she only exists virtually. There are now over 100,000 songs featuring her computer-generated voice. Now, the idol is getting her own anime movie.
What kind of movie will it be? The movie is titled “Project Sekai the Movie: The Broken World and The Miku Who Can’t Sing” (original: Project Sekai: Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku) and will be released in Japanese cinemas on January 17, 2025.
The film is based on the mobile game called “Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!” Ichika Hoshino is a high school student and a musician. In a CD shop in Shibuya, she discovers a song by Hatsune Miku that she has never heard before. This leads Ichika to encounter an unknown version of Miku.
Ichika learns that this version of Miku has trouble reaching a large audience. Therefore, she teams up with her to present her music to the public.
Since some anime movies have recently made their way to us from Japan, it is possible that the film will be available to us at a later date. However, we do not know if it will be released directly as a theatrical film or first as a streaming film.

Hatsune Miku is a well-known virtual phenomenon
Who is Hatsune Miku? Hatsune Miku originates from a music software created by Crypton Future Media. With the software, anyone can apply different singing voices to their own songs and melodies. Because Hatsune Miku can be used by anyone, there is a vast number of songs featuring her.
The most famous singing voice of this software is Hatsune Miku. Her voice quickly evolved into a character that garnered much attention. However, there are other well-known characters from the universe such as:

There are even real concerts where the virtual idol performs. Her body is projected onto a special glass screen. In Germany, there are also concerts featuring the Japanese idol (via Miku Expo).
A whole franchise has developed around Hatsune Miku. There are plush toys, mugs, and many other products featuring the virtual idol. The Japanese star has also appeared in video games like Just Dance and Yakuza.
