In Fortnite , an an extraordinary event could take place as early as tomorrow, Sunday, March 17th. Because then it’s St. Patrick’s Day – that could turn Fortnite quite green, bring some skins and a new mode.
Update March 17th: The event has now started. We have information about it on Sunday morning
This event is about: St. Patrick’s Day is the Irish national holiday – which is also celebrated in other countries like the USA, where many people have Irish roots.
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by turning as many things green as possible: clothing, rivers, beer – everything that can be made green.
St. Patrick’s Day is also observed in video games:
- FIFA does this regularly
- Black Desert also incorporates every holiday
- and in 2018, Fortnite had its own skins for the Irish national holiday.
An event skin is relatively rare and therefore highly sought after.

“Green” mode with pretty bad loot
How does Fortnite celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year? Nothing has been officially announced yet, but dataminers have found a new mode.
The new limited-time mode is called “Going Green”: This is a classic battle royale mode, but there’s almost only green loot – meaning relatively poor items.
The only way to get better gear is probably the new treasure map in Fortnite, according to the dataminer.
Additionally, a number of “green skins” could arrive in the cash shop.
The Irish lady “Sgt. Green Clover” (Sgt. Grünklee) is in high demand there – that was the event skin from 2018.
When does the new event in Fortnite start? It hasn’t been officially announced yet.
St. Patrick’s Day is on March 17th – so it wouldn’t be surprising if something happens at Fortnite tomorrow.
Epic is known for making such events relatively spontaneously – as they fully embraced the Super Bowl.
