A gamer has come up with the particularly original idea of mounting his CPU with wooden screws. The community says: One should always assume the greatest stupidity and the creativity of the users.

What’s the problem? The gamer uses regular wooden screws to attach the spacers for the processor to the motherboard. And that’s not a good idea because it can damage the motherboard. Moreover, it’s surprising because usually every motherboard comes with the appropriate screws to mount the cooling bracket.
A user posted this on reddit and explained that the backplate for the CPU was instead located near the power supply. Now, they are curious to see how badly the hardware has been damaged by the screws.
The user himself explains that he once participated in a workshop where the boss explained that one always has to assume the dumbest user:

How did it end? Surprisingly smoothly. The gamer was lucky in his misfortune and did not severely damage any components. The technician explained that in the end, only a BIOS update was needed to get the system running:

Another user in the same thread explains that such actions are not isolated cases. He writes that he himself works in a computer store, and the people here on reddit really do not know what people bring in for repairs every day: “It’s beyond imagination.”
Get help if you know little about self-building
Basically, if you have no idea about computers, it is best to get help. Because then mistakes like using wrong screws cannot happen. Problems such as:
- Bent CPU pins
- too much thermal paste
- incorrectly plugged cables
… are just further side effects that we encounter repeatedly when people with little experience build a PC.
Another factor is, by the way, time: Take enough time and patience when building a PC and also take a look at the manual. Many errors can be avoided if you check everything carefully beforehand and don’t just jump in headfirst.
Because in the worst case, such a mistake can cost you hardware worth several hundred euros. Or you make the same mistake multiple times:
