In Destiny 2, there is a new trick circulating that allows you to generate a lot of legendary shards with minimal effort. Players are currently taking advantage of this, but will they be punished for it?
What are legendary shards? In Destiny 2, there is an important premium currency that allows you to purchase special items from various vendors. However, legendary shards are a rarity for some Guardians, as you can only obtain them in two ways:
- Dismantling legendary gear and weapons
- Completing activities such as the Crucible, Strikes, or Gambit
Players have now discovered a trick in Season 17 that allows you to transition from a sunk cost to a carefree Guardian life.
Easy trick for quick legendary shards

Here’s how the trick works: You will need a lot of time, strong fingers, and a huge amount of Glimmer for this simple trick. If your Glimmer runs low, you can visit Rahool in the Tower. He will supply you with the necessary resource.
To get the shards, you need to do the following:
- Go to your Guardian menu and select “Collections”
- Then select “Armor”
- Now navigate to the “Leveling” section
- You need to pull the new blue armor from the expansion “Witch Queen“
- The armor has a different name for each class
- Warlock – Investigator Suit
- Titan – Midnight Grasp Suit
- Hunter – Sniffer’s Edge Suit
- You will then restore these armors for 777 Glimmer and dismantle them immediately
- If you did everything correctly, you will receive four legendary shards and 250 Glimmer for it
Normally, dismantling the blue armor only grants you Glimmer. It is also strange how this issue has arisen at all. Upon the release of the Witch Queen, the trick was not present, and players do not receive legendary shards from armor of “Rare” rarity. So if you’re low on Glimmer, this trick comes in handy.
Can I get banned for this? Since this is not a nasty and nerve-wracking exploit that disrupts the experience of other players, it is difficult to assess whether exploiters can be banned for it.
Bungie could still temporarily ban you or remove your ill-gotten legendary shards. However, more severe consequences are not to be expected, as the bug only affects the game’s economy and no players have to suffer for it. So you could use it as long as it lasts.
