In Destiny 2 the strongest Guardians competed over the weekend to see who would be the first to complete the new raid, but Bungie kept the name of the winning team a secret.
What kind of raid is this? On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the new raid: The Eternal Desert started in Destiny 2. This continues the saga that began with the “Forsaken” campaign.
The Vex from the conductor Maya Sundaresh enter the singularity that formed from the death of 3, a member of the Nine, in his lifeless remains. They arrive at a strange, unknown place where time and space are distorted.
The Guardians follow the Vex to uncover Maya Sundaresh’s plans and stop her and her Vex – whatever they are up to.
Bungie names every player, but not the team name.
What was the challenge? Countless teams attempted the challenge of successfully completing the raid first. Traditionally, upon the introduction of a new raid, the so-called World-First race takes place. This occurs in contest mode under difficult conditions. Well-known content creators such as Aztecross, FalloutPlays, and Datto also participated in the race.
Who completed the raid first? The winning team that finished the raid first after 15 hours and 35 minutes is called “Team Nuts.” This name seems to have been a bit uncomfortable for Bungie, because in the X post announcing the winners of the race, only the names of the players were mentioned, not the name of the team.
Among the team members were players milito, Dabs, Enskeria, Silken, mitcH, and Ham – all relatively unknown guardians with only a few hundred followers across various social media channels.
The most well-known among them is Dabs, who goes by the name “TheSnazzyRock” outside of Destiny and typically receives between 3,000 and 30,000 views with his relatively sporadic YouTube videos.
This is how the raid race unfolded: The World-First race was supposed to have some unforeseen stumbling blocks, including various bugs and the fact that players were required to change their loadouts during the raid, which was hardly possible on consoles.
Overall, community feedback indicated that this time the raid focused more on raw damage rather than understanding complicated raid mechanics. The individual bosses were said to have very high health points.
