The choice of team in Pokémon GO can have some impacts on your daily gaming experience. Even on social media.
In Pokémon GO, there are 3 teams that trainers must choose from at level 5: the red team Valor led by Candela, the blue team Mystic led by Blanche, or the yellow team Instinct led by Spark. Some trainers even forgo choosing a team, which brings certain limitations.
Although there are no official numbers from Niantic on team selection, Candela’s and Blanche’s teams dominate everyday gameplay and social media. Spark’s yellow team is not only outnumbered but also has to endure ridicule from the community. However, the reactions are fantastic.
“They will defend gyms as if their lives depend on it.”
What is this about? A picture was shared on Reddit showing 3 armies from movies, each associated with the respective teams from Pokémon GO. The red team is represented by a large army from Starship Troopers and the blue team is symbolized by an army from The Lord of the Rings.
The yellow team is represented by one that is, at least visually, not as imposing: the Knights of the Coconut. The picture refers to the fact that the red and blue teams are clearly in the majority.

How is the community reacting? Under the post, you can find some fantastic responses to the image. Alongside funny comments from both the yellow team and the other two teams, there are also comments suggesting that the yellow team is ultimately even at an advantage.
For example, ahgodzilla, who apparently belongs to another team, writes: “I root for team yellow. They will defend gyms as if their lives depend on it.” SilverGoon compares the different teams to possible difficulty levels: “Pokémon GO difficulty levels: Mystic – easy. Valor – normal. Instinct – hard.”
Trainings from the yellow team can also be found in the comments, providing fantastic responses:
- “My brother and I are the only two from team Instinct in the city, maybe in the country, maybe in the world,” writes Eggmaster2523414
- “Ready for another shift at the ‘out of the gym in 2 hours ‘ factory,” replies Banditree-
- “Don’t mess with team Instinct, there are about 3 of us,” comments taskTaker_TT
- “We earn coins easier. Red and blue teams have to let their monsters sit for months, but for us, it’s only hours,” replies Profoundly_AuRIZZtic to the previous comment
- “I chose Instinct at the start because Spark was the only one who looked like he was having a good time,” says Azeze1
How about you? Are you in Spark’s team too? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
