For a long time, the stun grenades in Call of Duty: Warzone were extremely popular, but after a nerf and the removal of the tactical item from “Vanguard Royale,” Stims are now among the top items in the category. MeinMMO explains what makes the health booster so damn strong that it can even secure victories.
As soon as you spotted an enemy in the Battle Royale of Call of Duty: Warzone, the first stun grenades would fly.
For a long time, these nasty tactical grenades were considered the best you could choose in this equipment slot. They stun opponents and can even help with reconnaissance through hit feedback.
But the tide has turned. With the introduction of the new map “Caldera,” there was a significant nerf for the stun grenades. In the “Vanguard Royale” mode, they are not even allowed anymore.
Now is the time of the “Stims.” They have always been considered strong. But due to the changes to the stun grenades and an adjustment to how the Stims function, they are now the best tactical items.
Rescue and Tactics in One Item
What makes the Stims so strong? The tactical items combine two very valuable properties:
- You can work with the gas and use the blocked zones for tactics
- When under fire, Stims give you a lot of health when you use them
What kind of tactics are these? To surprise your enemies, a short trip into the dangerous gas outside the playing field sometimes helps. Stims are reliable companions alongside the gas masks.
Just before your health drops to 0, you stick the syringe into your system and return to full health. This allows you to stay in the gas for a long time and flank enemies unexpectedly.
If you push it to the limit, you can even achieve pacifist victories with the Stims. Those who endure long enough can leave the last unsuspecting enemies in the gas to their fate and achieve a strong victory without weapon violence.
You can see what this looks like in the video here (starting at 06:07 minutes):
How does the healing buff work? Another very strong advantage is a healing buff while you are under fire. The mechanic has been in the game for some time. However, it was unclear at first whether this was a bug.
It seems clear now: the mechanic is intentional and can save you from the Gulag more often with the right timing, as the following video impressively shows:
If you take damage and decide to flee, take the Stim shot and you are almost invincible for a moment.
As long as your health is being replenished by the Stim shot, the replenishment does not stop. All damage you receive is directly healed by the tactical item. An extremely strong buff if the timing is right.
When do stun grenades still make sense? If you are a very aggressive player constantly on the hunt for the next victim team, then the so-called “Stuns” are still a strong choice.
After the nerf with the introduction of Caldera, the stun duration is not as long anymore. If the enemy has the perk “Battle Hardened,” then the effect lasts very briefly:
- Stun effect duration
- 4.5 seconds
- Stun effect duration with Battle Hardened
- 2.5 seconds
If you rock a round of Vanguard Royale, you shouldn’t choose any other tactical item. Nothing can compete with it right now. The appropriate loadout for the mode can be found here: CoD Warzone: Expert shows loadout with no recoil for the “new” Vanguard Royale
