In Destiny 2, Warlocks are now getting revenge with a nasty Stasis build, freezing everything in PvP. MeinMMO shows you which exotics and mods you need for this and how to drive your opponents to a frenzy.
Are you tired of being shown up in the Crucible by sliding Titans or nasty Hunters who throw glaciers at your feet from mid-air? Now Warlocks are striking back. A nasty build for the Shadebinder makes it possible – but beware, you could attract a lot of hate.
What’s the deal with the build? Today, on December 14th, the Stasis Warlock receives a buff. After the severe nerfs shortly after the launch of Beyond Light, you will be deadly again.
- The range of your melee “Penumbral Blast” is increased by 37%.
- The minimum distance for this attack is reduced by 32% – you can be closer to an enemy and still throw your ice ball.
Utilize these buffs for the melee attack that reliably freezes enemies and makes them defenseless. By combining exotics, you’ll always have instantly freezing skills available, gain a permanent 25% more weapon damage, and even charge your super faster.
How to build the Stasis build for the Shadebinder in Beyond Light
This is what you need: MeinMMO breaks down all the components of the build for you and then reveals how to best play the combo. To consistently use Penumbral Blast, you need a lot of strength and effects that give you energy quickly.
Use these exotics:
- The exotic gloves Claws of Ahamkara: Grant you a 2nd melee charge
- The exotic hand cannon Traveler’s Chosen: This will charge your abilities very quickly
- If you missed the exotic sidearm in Season 11, alternatively use the exotic auto rifle Monte Carlo: It quickly provides melee energy
These mods you should pack:
- Radiant Light (3 Arc energy): You only use the “2nd part” of the mod – if you equip another Arc mod, you gain +20 strength
- Momentum Transfer (3 Arc energy): You charge the nasty melee attack faster through your grenades and have the 2nd Arc mod with this
If you don’t have the mods yet, visit Banshee-44 in the Tower. The gunsmith has a rotating offer daily. You also have enough space for additional mods and can push stats of your choice (preferably strength).
How should your Stasis class look?
In addition to your Penumbral Blast, choose the Winter Shuriken grenade for your Shadebinder Warlock. With your two Stasis aspects, “Iceflare Bolts” and “Frostpulse,” you will have a total of 4 slots for fragments – Titans only get 3 in Season 12, and Hunters only get 2, so take advantage of that.
Pack these 4 fragments:
- 1. Whisper of Heedrons: Gain a weapon damage bonus after freezing a target with Stasis (-10 strength).
- 2. Whisper of Rifts: Increases damage and size of the Stasis explosion when you destroy a Stasis crystal or defeat a frozen target.
- 3. Whisper of Bonds: Defeating frozen targets with weapons grants super energy (-10 intellect and -10 discipline).
- 4. Whisper of Constriction: The slowing effect of your abilities lasts longer, and the duration of lingering abilities is increased (+10 strength).

How to play the nasty Warlock in the Crucible
The goal is to freeze every opponent and provide a Stasis skill in every duel. Oh, and you also have constant extra weapon damage and your super available very early.
- When you see an enemy or the red ping on your radar, jump up and throw your melee skill in that direction. Penumbral Blast will automatically fly in the general direction of an enemy and freeze them instantly, no matter where you hit them.
- Now you have about 1.5 seconds to shoot the enemy down with your exotic hand cannon, Traveler’s Chosen.
- Practical: Once an enemy is frozen, you automatically receive a 25% weapon damage buff – this lasts a proud 10 seconds.
- The shattering enemy spawns ice seekers that automatically search for and freeze the next target.
- If you miss this ability, follow up with your Stasis grenade or land your 2nd melee attack.
- After that, activate the effect of your exotic hand cannon and regain ability energy if needed.
The mods, Stasis abilities, and exotics together ensure that you can actually repeat the cycle permanently. To the dismay of your enemies. Because how are opponents supposed to attack you if they freeze mid-slide or jump?
However, you don’t have a free pass in the Crucible with this build either. Other classes can still pose a threat to you, especially the special weapons can result in harsh one-shots.
