Do you play a lot on the Nintendo Switch, but the battery drains too quickly? Then you should activate a small feature on your Switch. It will extend your battery life.
The Nintendo Switch is a great device for gaming on the go – as long as the battery holds up. Because just after you might have played for 3 hours on the road, you’re already looking for an available outlet. Especially demanding games put a strain on the battery.
Some users claim that the newer Nintendo Switch OLED has better battery life than the original model, but the battery still runs out quickly.
Now a user explained that with a simple feature, you can significantly extend the battery life of the Nintendo Switch. MeinMMO presents the trick to you.
Internet features drain your Switch’s battery
Which feature is it? Specifically, it is the airplane mode of the Nintendo Switch. A user on reddit explained that he noticed the Nintendo Switch consumes significantly less power in airplane mode (via reddit.com):
It [the airplane mode] drastically extends battery life while playing, but it also prevents the battery from draining when in standby mode. I charge my Switch every few days and often leave it overnight in the car so it’s ready to go the next day when I head to work.
How do I activate and deactivate the airplane mode? It’s not very complicated if you want to activate or turn off the airplane mode:
- Select “System Settings” in the HOME menu.
- On the left options, select “Airplane Mode”.
- Then go to the right side and select “Airplane Mode”. Then press the A button to activate it. To deactivate the airplane mode, press A again.
Why does the airplane mode play such a big role? The Switch constantly wants to connect to the Internet. It looks for new updates and regularly checks if your friends are online and what games they are currently playing or have started. Or you get notifications about what is on sale in the shop.
However, if you are playing a single-player game, the background activity only unnecessarily drains your battery. By turning on airplane mode, all these tasks of the Switch simply go away and you will notice the difference. If that’s not enough for you, there’s still a useful gadget that can significantly improve your Nintendo Switch.
Who finds this less interesting? If you mainly use your Switch in docking mode, use your cloud saves, or primarily play online games, then the airplane mode does not bring you much.
