So far, you had to choose in Diablo 4 whether you want to farm Gold or the best loot. In Season 6, you can apparently combine both now. Players have discovered a small change with a big impact on the Diablo 4 PTR.
What is this change?
- Previously, you killed “Ladder Bosses” like Varshan and Zir to specifically farm the best loot.
- The bosses are currently their own reward: You pay materials to summon them and have a chance for Legendaries and Uniques.
- On the currently ongoing PTR for Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred, there are now also whispers for the bosses. This is new.
This makes farming easier: If you silence 10 whispers, you can exchange them at the Whispering Tree for a chest full of loot (via Reddit). Until now, you had to farm Hell Tides, dungeons, or season mechanics for that.
With Season 6, there are whispers for the “Ladder Bosses” as well – and here right away 5, just like with world bosses and dungeons. This means that when whispers for the bosses are active, you can already pick up a chest after two of them.
In the chests, there is not only loot but also masses of Gold. Since Season 5, whispers have actually been unpopular because the Hell hordes are the best farming spot for pretty much everything. One player found so much Gold there that the game crashed.
However, it is still worthwhile to repeatedly complete the whispers, as you can even find the rarest items in the game there. And you can simply drop them off without any extra effort.
We spoke with the executives at gamescom 2024 about the future of Diablo 4:
No more tormented bosses, difficulty determines loot
By the way, you need fewer materials to summon the bosses in Season 6, at least at the current stage. On Reddit, a user reports: “On the PTR, you only need 4 hearts for Varshan, Stygian stones are no longer in existence.”
Previously, you had to painstakingly farm Stygian stones to summon the Tormented Echoes of the bosses for a chance at the best loot. In Season 6, this system is changing.
With Season 6, Blizzard is changing the difficulty levels in Diablo 4. Instead of World Level 1-4, you will have “Normal” to “Torment 4”. Monsters no longer have levels but scale with the difficulty you are playing on. Accordingly, you will find the best loot at bosses on Torment 4.
Whether these changes will remain is uncertain, as is everything on the PTR. Everything can still be changed before the release on October 8. However, the difficulty levels have been a recurring point of criticism since Diablo 4’s release, which Blizzard is now definitely addressing, more or less successfully: Diablo 4 is tackling one of the biggest points of criticism – This is what experts say about it
