In EA FC 24 a new season has begun. Consequently, many fans eagerly awaited the familiar milestone rewards from Division Rivals, which had offered strong packs in recent years. However, this time the end of Season 1 came with an unpleasant surprise that is not well-received by players.
What is it about? FIFA players could always look forward to guaranteed packs at the end of a season in recent years, depending on which division they finished the season in and how many games they played in Division Rivals. The magic number for many was “90,” as this was where the best rewards awaited in the form of multiple 45, 50, or even 100k packs.
For the community, this was a welcome gift, as primarily the number of games played, not the number of won matches, counted for the rewards. EA Sports essentially rewarded the invested playtime of the players with the milestones.
This year, however, the changed season rewards caused confusion in advance. Since today, fans have had it in black and white. We show you what concerns have now become reality.
Season Rivals Rewards: Choreo replaces guaranteed packs
What changes did EA make to the season rewards? Based on the Reddit thread, you can see that EA has removed the guaranteed packs from the season rewards to replace them with a choreo. The choreo (tifo) comes in three versions, depending on whether you reached the first (20 games), second (50 games), or third (90 games) milestone level.
Choreo instead of packs. This might seem bizarre to hardcore FIFA fans at first.
However, part of the truth is that EA Sports did not suddenly surprise fans with this adjustment. Two weeks ago, an attentive user in a subreddit asked: “Is this (referring to the choreo, note from the editor) really the reward for 90 Rivals matches in a season?” (via reddit.com)
In between, EA made slight adjustments to the milestone rewards, but this adjustment did not include the addition of packs. In another subreddit, a user stated in this context: “The season rewards are still just a choreo. They have merely changed it to bronze, silver, and gold versions. No other rewards for 90 or more games. Chaotic.” (via reddit.com)
In the posts under the subreddit, the first expressions of discontent did not take long to appear. User RedPack responded by calculating the invested playtime:
“90 games. Ninety. That’s at least 12 minutes per game, that’s 18 hours of playtime. For a choreo. (…)” Here it already became clear that the new season rewards could face significant backlash. How fans now deal with the confirmation of the changed milestones, you can read below.
In general, the inclined FIFA player had to show a thick skin multiple times this year already. Recently, for instance, a bug in the Weekend League caused considerable frustration, where the player could not be stopped. This and other gameplay errors have, however, been removed from the game with the latest title update .
FIFA Community reacts: “What am I supposed to do with a choreo?”
How does the community deal with the inferior season rewards? In the previously shown, latest subreddit, which confirms the inferior season rewards, the top comment mainly revolves around the reasonableness of this change. One user asks: “What the hell is a choreo after 90 games that I will never use anyway?” (via reddit.com)
Another user, however, is less surprised by the milestone rewards, but rather by the hope of many people who were sure in advance that the choreo as the only season reward was just a display error. He ultimately appeals to the FIFA community: “(…) Never expect more than the absolute minimum from EA, friends.” (via reddit.com)
What do the milestone rewards for the second season look like? Furthermore, improvement is not in sight for now. We and also some other users have already noticed that the milestones for the second season include exactly the same rewards. This matches the following comment from this user:
“It’s the same crap in the next season, just so you know.” With this update, EA Sports certainly did not do itself any favors despite the announcement for popularity. Perhaps EA will at least slightly adjust the rewards for the second season.
Frustration largely stems from the fact that many players who do not invest real money in FC Points rely on the packs that they can grind themselves. The choreo would have been a nice addition but understandably cannot compete with guaranteed gold players.
In conclusion, we introduce you to a man whom this issue likely does not further concern. This player assembled the best team in EA FC 24 for around 45,000 euros.
