What kind of bug is this? Today, the major update for Palworld was released, which not only introduced a new island and additional companions but also many other innovations.
Since the update became available to players, there has been an abundance of negative feedback on the developers’ social media channels. Players on dedicated servers are facing empty characters. A large portion of PC players play on such servers, which is why the complaints keep piling up.
There are multiple issues with the characters. Items, Pals are missing, or the entire character is completely empty or cannot even be found. This is especially frustrating for those who have been playing Palworld for a long time and are now left with nothing. Now the developers have spoken out.

The Nightmare of All MMO Players
What do the developers say about the problem? The developers of Palworld have already identified the issue. As they stated in an announcement on X.com, the problem really only affects dedicated servers, and the patch that is supposed to resolve the issue is already being rolled out, so your server will receive an update soon. However, there is a catch.
All characters will undergo a rollback with the new patch. A rollback is often considered a nightmare by MMO players, as it takes away their invested time and progress made. For this reason, many developers want to avoid such a reset. If it does occur, it usually indicates a serious problem that could only be fixed by this drastic measure.
For players in Palworld, it will get really bad: Once the issue is fixed, all characters will be reset to the state prior to the major update. This includes characters that were newly created. So those who have just started with Palworld may find that they lose all the progress they have made in the past hours.
What happens to characters that were created now? Anyone who already had a character on a dedicated server and now created a new one due to the bug will lose their new character. The old character will be restored, explains Palworld’s community manager, Bucky, on the official Palworld Discord.
To ensure your server receives the update, you should restart the server, during which the patch should install automatically. If this is not the case, it’s best to be patient. Depending on the provider, the update process may take shorter or longer. If you are already updating your server, make sure you have disabled a new feature: If you are attached to your Pals, you should avoid the new mode in Palworld – You might lose them permanently
