There are currently many RPGs on sale on Steam, including Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Anyone who enjoyed Baldur’s Gate 3 will certainly find value in Solasta.
What kind of game is this?
- Solasta uses, like Baldur’s Gate 3, the rules of Dungeons & Dragons, one of the largest role-playing games in the world.
- Unlike the RPG hit from Larian, Solasta does not have “Origin” characters with their own story; your entire party consists of created characters. Accordingly, some character story is missing, but the game is still one of the best alternatives to Baldur’s Gate 3.
- You have the choice of the traditional classes and races from D&D, and since 2022 you can even play Solasta in co-op, with only the host needing all DLCs to share with players.
This is the offer: Solasta normally costs €29.99 on Steam. However, it is currently reduced by 70% until November 18th and costs only €8.99. That’s less than a meal at McDonald’s, which for most burgers usually costs between €10 and €13.
Furthermore, all DLCs are also reduced, though not as much. Those who want to avoid DRM can find Solasta for the same price on GOG.com. The game is also available on Xbox, although not currently on sale:
- here’s the entire sale of Solasta or Tactical Adventures on Steam
- here you can find Solasta: Crown of the Magister on GOG.com
- here you can find Solasta in the Microsoft Store for Xbox
The game is rated 89% on Steam and thus “very positive”. Players praise especially the tactical battles and the fidelity to the 5th edition of D&D. The gameplay is top-notch, while character development and story are rather mediocre to okay. One user rates: “D&D on PC with a friendly DM, that’s how it felt to me.”
According to How Long To Beat, it takes 70 hours to explore everything in Solasta if you want to discover everything in the base game. The main story alone takes about 40 hours. The DLCs provide an additional up to 36 hours and 75 hours of gameplay.
Those who spend a little more get the best Warhammer RPG on Steam
If you’re feeling burnt out after Baldur’s Gate 3 when it comes to fantasy settings and D&D, you currently have a strong alternative on Steam. The RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a real tip for RPG fans and even does some things better than Baldur’s Gate 3.
You play in the dark future of Warhammer 40,000 as a rogue trader, exploring new territories in the name of the Emperor and fighting against the enemies of humanity. The game currently costs €29.99 instead of €49.99 on Steam.
Rogue Trader has recently received its first DLC “Void Shadow,” which adds another approximately 20 hours of gameplay, a new companion, and 2 new classes. Warhammer expert Benedict Grothaus has already tested it: The Warhammer 40k RPG on Steam gives me as a fan exactly what I’m missing in Space Marine 2
