The Dracthyr can now play many different classes in World of Warcraft. However, it’s still not running smoothly.
With Patch 11.0.5, a big wish for dragon fans in World of Warcraft has been fulfilled. The race of Dracthyr is no longer limited to the Evoker, but can also choose many other classes. So, those who wish can roam the world of Azeroth as a Dracthyr warrior or Dracthyr rogue.
However, there are a number of problems that are now being highlighted by the community.
What are the specific problems? They are manifold. User delu_ lists a whole bunch of incidents in his post on Reddit where the implementation apparently did not go well. Many sounds are missing, and there are also recurring bizarre bugs with the Dracthyr aside from the sound backdrop.
- Many error messages do not have voiceovers, as is common with other races. For example, a Dracthyr warrior does not say “Not enough rage!” or “I need a target!”
- Hits from the character have no voiceover (pain sounds, etc.).
- Some voiced abilities play the sound of male and female characters (calling abilities, charge).
- The chosen visage form of a Dracthyr can also force other Dracthyr in the group into this shape.
How the community is responding: The general tone in the comments is supportive. Many more bugs are listed that they have noticed while playing Dracthyr characters. For example, zangetsen describes his experiences with a fury warrior:
I play a fury warrior and execute has no hit sound. It’s just a “Wooosh” without feedback. When I think about it, a whole lot of abilities have no feedback sound, both in Dracthyr and human form.
HugCollector also has a few problems with the Dracthyr, which have been around for a while:
Female Dracthyr still make the sounds of male Dracthyr, since the beta of Dragonflight.
It seems clear that the Dracthyr have some problems that still need to be addressed. This unfortunately places one of the newest races in the long line of game content that could have benefited from a bit more internal testing – but that is a criticism, that has been mentioned multiple times in recent months.
