As a wizard zooming through the air on a broom and competing in sports contests with other teams – sounds like Harry Potter, but it is Broomstick League.
What is Broomstick League? Equipped with a magical broom and a wand, you participate in sports contests. You need to improve your flying skills and get the ball into the opponent’s goal.
For this, you can use spells to take out your opponents. This improves your chances of victory. Teamplay is important because only with the right tactics can you triumph over your foes.
Games are played in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 matches in several arenas. In some arenas, you will also have to fend off trolls and flying monsters. You are allowed to customize your wizard using cosmetic items.
This is not Quidditch
What is special about Broomstick League? The game sounds very much like Quidditch from Harry Potter. But it is not. The indie development team from Virtual Basement does not have the official Harry Potter license.
Also, the Survival MMO Citadel wants to impress with a Harry Potter twist, without having the official license.
What impression does the game make? The gameplay trailer looks quite fun. It could be enjoyable to fly through the air on a broom and engage in exciting magical duels with enemies to get the ball into the goal.
When is Broomstick League supposed to be released? The developers have not yet announced a specific date. However, the release is planned via Steam for the first quarter of 2020. As is common nowadays, Broomstick League will launch in an Early Access version.
What do the players think? So far, there have been very few reactions to Broomstick League. However, there is an interest in this type of game. Since the rules of Broomstick League are said to differ from the official Quidditch rules, some see more potential for additional game modes and variations.
