A PS5 survives a house fire. The owner shows that the console actually still starts and he can play with it. The console itself looks terrible for sure.
A gamer posted several short videos of his PS5 on Tiktok. Here you can see an extremely damaged console: The casing is heavily damaged and melted from the heat. The DualSense controller is just a lump of melted plastic. The design of the PS5 has always been considered controversial, but regarding the burnt appearance, everyone should agree.
However, the surprise follows. When he connects the PS5 to a television, the console actually starts and even displays an image. The owner can easily log into the console menu and play.
Outer shell and controller destroyed, but the internal hardware has survived
Although the device’s casing is burned, the system still works. Obviously, the fire did not affect the internal components. This is surprising since high temperatures are present in a house fire. According to Tipp-zum-Bau, temperatures can reach 842 degrees within 30 minutes and continue to rise thereafter.
It is therefore surprising to see that the PS5 is capable of withstanding high temperatures and even a fire, and that the console can still start despite the fire.
How safe is the functionality of the PS5? However, it is questionable whether the console will really function permanently. Heat and smoke could still have caused damage to the console that may not be visible at first glance. Especially if there are microscopic damages, such as to the cooling system or the circuit board.
The customer service may also only be able to help to a limited extent if the owner still had a warranty for his PS5. Normally, technology comes with a limited warranty that excludes force majeure, such as fires, floods, or natural disasters.
