A cheerful anime character guides you through the tax declaration – and that as a video game. A genius move or a messed-up art idea?
What is the worst, most boring, and most exhausting thing in the world for many people? Right, tax declarations. And what is the most pleasant thing in the world? Right, waifus.
Couldn’t we spice up the boredom of tax declarations with waifus? That’s exactly what the developers of “MSCHF Product Studios Inc” seem to have thought and are launching a visual novel called “Tax Heaven 3000”.
What kind of game is this? In the best tradition of a visual novel, you experience a sort of “dating game” with Iris. Iris is the red-haired lady you’ve already seen in the title image above. She has somehow taken a liking to you – and to your financial circumstances, which she wants to break down in detail.
In doing so, she asks you for your tax number, your income, and your expenses – and frequently bombards you with various questions, including personal ones about your hobbies.
Do you find it hard to input? Then she also gently places her hand on yours and helps you click together. That makes it seem so much easier.
The catch: The game actually creates a finished tax declaration based on the entered data, which is then submitted to the tax office.
Does it work in Germany as well? Unfortunately not, the “game” is only compatible with US tax declarations as it transmits data to the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).
However, since the game will be released for free on Steam on April 4th, Europeans can probably take a look – even if it’s just to get to know Iris a little better.
But who knows if this isn’t the future? Apparently, doing annoying mandatory tasks alongside beloved waifus or husbandos can make even something as tedious as tax declarations more exciting.
