A shared Co-Op in Baldur’s Gate 3 can strengthen friendships or relationships, create shared memories and moments of success. But when the relationship in real life falls apart, some things need to be sorted out. A player is asking for advice on Reddit.
What problem is the player facing? In a Reddit post, a player reports that she had been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 in Co-Op with her partner. However, he broke up with her after Valentine’s Day, leaving the player with a tiny problem – his created character from the Co-Op is still in her game.
Now she wants to know how to best get rid of this character. After just a few hours, she was surprised by the outpouring of support and kind words from the community – and also received some creative solutions for her situation.
Here you can see the trailer for Baldur’s Gate 3:
The community offers comfort and solutions
What is the simplest solution? The probably simplest solution is to abandon the current save and start a new one.
“Aside from the symbolic act of deleting the save file you both started together, you won’t enjoy this save anymore since it is linked to the breakup,” finds iWentRogue.
However, if giving up the play hours is not an option, Rambler has another idea: She could ask Withers to “store” her ex’s character in his closet. This closet can store player characters that are not part of the party at the moment. Then she can simply “forget” her ex in that place.
However, there are definitely more creative approaches that might feel a bit more cathartic for the player.
What other suggestions does the community offer? Some other ideas from the comments are as follows:
- RedditH8e4ever suggests a scroll with the spell “Disintegrate.” The player thinks this is a wise and perhaps therapeutic decision.
- Tom15extra says: “Congratulations, you now have a practice dummy for all your new spells!”
- Lishio420 suggests using his character as a sacrifice for BOOOAL, which also brings a nice buff.
- Zugzwang522 thinks she should kill the character and then resurrect him as a zombie with a wand from Act 1 to use him as a meat-shield.
- Wrong-Refrigerator-3 suggests killing the character and then leaving him to Karlach as an improvised weapon. unwittingprotagonist adds that she would do all that for you since Karalch is a good friend.
- -EdenXXI- says: “I suggest going to the top of Gortash’s castle, drinking a storm giant’s elixir, and sending him into the sunset.”
Whatever the player ultimately decides, it is up to her, but she checked in a few hours after the initial upload: “The overwhelming amount of love and creative responses has really made my week better.”
Is romance in Baldur’s Gate 3 dead? Even though the relationship in her real life has come to an end, the interaction and support of the community towards the player has apparently been a welcome surprise. Maybe she will engage with someone else as a solo player in her own campaign?
