In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there is a big discussion about matchmaking. A player has now shown how easily it can be manipulated.
This is how matchmaking works: The matchmaking of Modern Warfare is hotly debated and is one of the biggest points of criticism from the community, like for example the spawn system. However, there is no exact data on this, as the developers remain silent on this and other critical topics.
Many are dissatisfied with how matches are formed and want exact information from Infinity Ward on how they are assigned to lobbies.
Many players suspect a skill-based matchmaking (SBMM), but experiments by some CoD figures from the community show that apparently no pure SBMM is active and that other factors such as connection, K/D, levels, and recent performances also play a role.
Especially the latter can be manipulated easily to end up in lobbies with allegedly easier opponents. However, it seems that other factors also play a role.
Does good aim determine the lobbies?
A player is testing this: On Reddit, user “WE_BE_KILLING_U” has conducted another test. He played mainly with bad aim, mostly shooting from the hip and then checked the strength of the opponents in the new lobbies.
doing hip fire only puts you into lobbies with players still learning the game, SBMM can easily be exploited and needs to be addressed IW. from r/modernwarfare
It is noticeable that he ends up in lobbies with allegedly easy opponents. There, opponents react late or not at all to him and when they do shoot, they often hit only after a certain time. It doesn’t look like pros at all.
What can be taken away from the test? If you intentionally make your stats worse, it apparently happens quite quickly and you end up in worse lobbies. Although it is not entirely clear how many different lobbies the tester has gone through, they are getting weaker and weaker.
His K/D gets worse from round to round and his opponents apparently have a similar K/D.
Can Modern Warfare be easily manipulated? If you want to get a lot of kills in a round, you should intentionally worsen your K/D over several rounds – that is the insight.
The game quickly notices this and puts you in worse lobbies. If no lobby was skipped in the clip shown above, this could even be the case after just 4-5 lobbies.
Have you had similar experiences and were you able to manipulate the matchmaking? What do you generally think of player search in the new Modern Warfare?
This could of course be due to his hip fire shots, but also to his low kill count.
