A Chinese player of the gacha game Honkai: Star Rail has completely lost it and accumulated an enormous amount of light cones of a single character.
What did the player spend his money on? Honkai: Star Rail is a gacha game. This means that you can buy rewards by using real money, but specific rewards are not guaranteed. Like at a vending machine, you “pull” a random reward from a large pool – ranging from a powerful 5-star weapon to a nearly worthless 3-star weapon. The most sought-after items are usually new characters that are available only for a limited time.
In this case, however, the player has spent his money on the weapons of the character “Feixiao,” which are also called “light cones” in the game. Normally, you only need one weapon. It is possible to upgrade this weapon, but only up to 4 additional “light cones” can be used. After that, the maximum is already reached. However, this Chinese player treated himself to 520 “Feixiao light cones.”
Honkai: Star Rail also has quite a bit of music in its repertoire:
520 light cones are too much
What does he need so many weapons for? Obviously, he cannot do anything with 520 “Feixiao light cones” at the moment. The weapons in Honkai: Star Rail are attributed to specific characters; only figures from the “Hunt” path can equip this weapon at all. And not every character from this path would benefit from the attributes of this specific “light cone.”
Perhaps future characters from this weapon could draw their benefits, but that’s still in the stars. Moreover, the player probably wouldn’t be able to accommodate the 520 pieces anyway. It is assumed that the player just wanted to shock the gaming community, and he certainly succeeded at that:
- Gamer-chan notes (via Reddit): “Some people have too much money.”
- Juan-Claudio is surprised (via Reddit): “How many pulls would be needed for 520 light cones? That must take several hours.”
- Accomplished_Cost859 wonders (via Reddit): “What does he want to do with so many light cones? They are just sitting on his account and serve absolutely no purpose. It’s just clutter. His bag must be full already.”
- tw33zd is upset and claims (via Reddit): “Money laundering criminals!”
- Ok_Marion hits the nail on the head (via Reddit): “Honestly, it’s just a social media thing to attract attention.”
Ultimately, it is of course up to each player what they want to spend their hard-earned money on.
Was this a one-time event? In fact, this was not the first time this Chinese player has provoked with his in-game purchases. He did this already with another character in Honkai: Star Rail and gained attention on the internet. This time, his strategy worked again, as he became a topic of conversation once more. It is likely that this will not be the last time.
Honkai: Star Rail offers not only characters to spend your money on. This game actually shines particularly with its good story. If you want to be enchanted, check this out: Dreams, moral questions, and angels – That’s why Penacony currently delivers the best story in Honkai: Star Rail
