World of Warcraft is full of challenges, and if those aren’t enough, you just create your own. Like the paladin TracerFPS. He has mastered the dungeon The Other Side, but completely wrong – and on purpose.
This is how he played The Other Side: TracerFPS played The Other Side on mythic difficulty, alone and without wielding a weapon. Normally, such a dungeon requires five players.
Although since Season 1 of Shadowlands the keystone dungeons have been available, mythic dungeons are still a challenge for many players. Completing these dungeons alone is already an art, but doing it without a weapon is truly impressive.
Who is the player? TracerFPS runs a small YouTube channel and streams on Twitch, where he usually showcases Fortnite or Valorant and similar games. World of Warcraft is thus an unusual exception for his content.
However, according to his own statement, he was inspired by the paladin Rextroy, who already mastered Theater of Pain solo just under 2 weeks after the release of Shadowlands.
Hours of work pay off
This is how he did it: Like Rextroy, TracerFPS played a protection paladin, meaning a tank. Since he does not use a weapon, he had to rely on the talent “Blessed Hammer”. This replaces “Hammer of the Righteous” and does not require an equipped weapon.
With this ability, he was able to generate the holy power needed to cast “Word of Glory” and continuously heal himself. For preparation, he also obtained:
- several potions and flasks
- armor sets
- tomestones to switch talents
- the trinket “Bloodsoaked Scale” from Hakkar, which deals damage in the area and grants a shield
Additionally, TracerFPS is a member of the Kyrian, the best covenant for protection paladins. They grant him the ability “Divine Toll”, with which he can cast “Shield of Vengeance” on multiple targets in his vicinity.
With an item level of 193 (182 without weapon), he is also significantly above the average of players currently. For some bosses, however, he still needed several hours. A summary of his run can be found in the video embedded here:
As a solo tank, TracerFPS would certainly be a great addition to the pure “cloth group”, which has successfully completed all dungeons without a tank.
Is there more to come? Now that both the raid and the mythic keystone dungeons are available, such crazy achievements will likely occur even more frequently in the future.
In the past, it has happened that players completed a +20 dungeon solo, but only quite late in the expansion. Since Shadowlands is still in its early stages, it remains exciting to see what these players will accomplish in the new expansion.
