In Path of Exile 2, the developers held an official race where players were to complete Acts 1-3. The fastest participants could win a prize. However, it was unexpected that the winner played a Warrior class, which is generally considered the worst class, and still won by a large margin.
What kind of race is this? In Path of Exile 2, the developers recently announced 3 races (via PathofExile.com) where the best players of their class can win a prize. These events were intended to bridge the time until the major patch 0.2.0.
The first of these races has now taken place, but surprisingly, the winner played the Warrior, generally deemed the worst class, and still won by a 40-minute margin. After just 2 hours and 28 minutes, the player Angormus reached the goal, the boss Doryani.

Achieving success with the worst class
How did he do it? The rules for the competition were simple: whoever is the first player of their class to defeat the boss Doryani in Act 3 wins. If a participant dies, they must not move for one minute.
The player Angormus won the race by a landslide, even though he plays the Warrior, arguably the “worst” class. It is often said that the Warrior has a slow clear speed and lacks easy access to good defensive stats. However, this categorization does not seem to apply in the early game.
Angormus made full use of the class’s potential and a trick during the speedrun. He interrupted the animation of the ability Boneshatter by executing a Rolling Slam before the attack. This ensures that the second part of the animation is not triggered and directly causes high area damage.
With Leap Slam and Shield Charge, the Warrior can also cover distances faster than other classes early in the game, which Angormus utilized to his advantage. You can see how this looks in the speedrun on YouTube:
Did luck also play a role? Definitely, Angormus was quite lucky regarding his items. Early in the run, he found boots with “+15 % Movement-Speed”, received items with high health and resistance stats, as well as a unique belt.
However, the most important item was the two-handed staff he found in a chest. It provided +67 % more physical damage. The enchantments also received bonus damage of the Physical and Cold type.
With these strong items, he managed to complete Act 3 as a level 28 character in just 2 hours and 28 minutes, even though the final boss “Doryani” is level 45. While in the early acts you have limited power over your character, later on, with the right items, you can successfully play even the craziest builds.
