A player shares on the subreddit of The Elder Scrolls Online that he bought all DLCs with Gold instead of investing real money. Users ask him how he did it.
The post by player WagyuBeefCubes shows that you can progress in ESO even without money. He only acquired the base game and farmed the rest. He states that he has never subscribed to ESO Plus and never bought crowns, the real-money currency of ESO.
Already in the title of his post, he invites the community to ask him any questions.
Farming Gold for Crowns
“For all equally burnt-out/ poor/ financially challenged players out there: It’s possible, even without ridiculous grinding,” explains WagyuBeefCubes.
He exchanges his gold for crowns. In North America, the rate is about 1:1500, so one crown for 1500 gold. On the European servers, the rate is currently about 1:1800, sometimes even 1:2000.
How do you get crowns for gold? There are communities like Tamriel Crown Exchange that ensure players receive items from the Crown Store for in-game gold.
The Crown Store offers a gifting feature through which DLCs and other content can be gifted. So you pay another player to buy you content for real money.
Tamriel Crown Exchange ensures that the transfer is secure and that you are not scammed. However, there is no 100% guarantee that everything will go without fraud. So please be a bit cautious.
What crowns typically cost: You get 1,500 crowns for 13 Euros, 3,000 crowns for 21 Euros. Through bulk discounts, they become “cheaper” the more you spend. For example, you can buy 21,000 crowns for 125 Euros. There are several ways to save on crowns and DLCs.

To buy the DLC Dragonhold, for example, you would need to exchange 3.6 million gold at a rate of 1:1800.
However, expansions cannot be purchased for crowns, only directly with real money. Only the 3 DLCs released each year are available in the Crown Store.

Community Asks for Tips on How to Quickly Obtain Gold
In the comments, users are now asking how the player obtained so much gold. Allegedly without huge grinding.
“I’m doing everyone here a favor and asking the most important question: What source have you received the most gold from?” asks Turbulent_Dare3263.
WagyuBeefCubes replies that he mainly achieved this through trading. He buys items that are offered cheaply on the market and sells them for more. He is not the best trader in his guild but earns about 16 to 19 million gold per week through these sales.
Many of his tricks he learned from the YouTuber Arttea, whom he mentions multiple times in his replies.
How long did it take him? According to his own statements, the player needed about 6 months to be able to buy all DLCs with gold. Unfortunately, he does not disclose the exact hours played.
