A player shows his playtime on his PS5 and surprises everyone by claiming that he played God of War for nearly 50 years. But how is that possible?
Some games on Steam or consoles are real classics, into which one can invest dozens or even hundreds of hours. A player has shared his playtime on reddit and it’s surprising. Because as it appears: The player has played the game God of War (PS4) for almost 50 years.
Does one need that long?
- No, the well-known site Howlongtobeat states that it takes about 51 hours to complete all achievements in God of War (2018).
- Additionally, God of War was only released for the PS4 in 2018. So that’s a maximum of 6 years he could have played.
- Furthermore, the PS5 has only been on the market for just under 4 years. 50 years ago, no one would have been playing on a PS5, let alone on a PlayStation at all. The first PlayStation was released on December 3, 1994, making it around 30 years old.
Technical error distorts playtime
What is behind this? The years of playtime are primarily due to a technical error. Our colleagues at Truetrophies.com report on this. Inaccurate playtime data has been a problem on the PS5 for quite some time. Many players discuss this issue online. The inconsistency in playtime may lead it to appear that you have played many more hours than you actually have.
The opposite can also quickly happen: In the reverse case, you might have played for days to earn a difficult Platinum trophy, yet your PlayStation cheerfully tells you that you’ve played for less than an hour. Such situations are especially frustrating.
So if you are now proud of your PlayStation profile where you have already played hundreds of hours, you might also be affected. Because many of your playtimes could also be incorrect or at least distorted, just like the user who claims to have played God of War for 50 years.
