The expedition of a player from the space online game Elite Dangerous got a bit out of control. Because he has been missing for three months, but is now supposed to be rescued.
Rescue Mission in Space
What happened? Getting lost in space can become a big problem. This happened to player Commander Deluvian Reyes Cruz. He set out last November to break a new record in Elite Dangerous.
He wanted to cover the longest distance from the “Sol” solar system. He had already succeeded five times before. This time, however, he seems to have overdone it.

Because he ran out of fuel on the way, and since then his ship has been drifting in the emptiness of space – for a whole 3 months.
How will the player be rescued now? The Fuel Rats, a group of players specializing in rescuing commanders who have run out of fuel in space, are on their way to the rescue.
However, this is not an easy task. First, they had to obtain the fuel. Then it is necessary to reach Commander Deluvian Reyes Cruz – and he is quite far out in space. Just coming up with a plan for how the Fuel Rats could reach and bring the player back took three days.
Now the operation has started. Five commanders with 2,576 tons of fuel have set out. It will now take until Friday, February 22, until the Fuel Rats reach the destination. This can be followed live on Twitch.
Players Love the Challenge
That’s why this has happened more often: Elite Dangerous offers a huge galaxy full of places that have not yet been explored. This naturally awakens the spirit of exploration. Players want to see how far they can fly into space and what there is out there. But that sometimes leads to a catastrophe.
There are plenty of challenges that players set for themselves. For example, one commander “painted” a logo during a month-long journey through space. Additionally, 4,600 players set out on a journey that is supposed to take eight months.
The sandbox aspect of Elite Dangerous allows for such things, which is one reason why players have so much fun in the space game.
