Rasha’nan is one of the bosses from the current raid Palace of Nerub’ar from World of Warcraft. Now, a WoW player has actually managed to defeat this villain solo – and on heroic difficulty!
How is this possible? Player Venn has made it his mission to defeat current raid bosses from WoW: The War Within solo with his Blood Death Knight. About two weeks ago, he had already conquered the normal version of Rasha’nan, and now he has tackled the considerably tougher heroic variant of the villain from the Palace of Nerub’ar.
On YouTube, the player explains how his starting situation and strategy for the fight were:
- The Death Knight has an item level of 632, with 540,816 stamina and 62,095 armor.
- Thanks to Flask and Rune, he could build almost 20,000 versatility. Additionally, there is 5 percent more damage and healing through the buff “Severed Threads”.
- His talent and equipment setup focuses entirely on reducing incoming damage.
- Especially dangerous on Heroic is the Web Breaker, as a solo player can quickly be pulled off the platform by the attack. Venn could only counter this by maintaining as much distance as possible from the boss in time. This way, he landed right next to the boss after being pulled in.
- For the Web Breaker and other attacks from the boss, Venn urgently needed defensive cooldowns. Having these available at the right moment was crucial for survival.
- As soon as the boss enters enrage, he uses his attacks more frequently, and dangerous debuffs last significantly longer. Without an Anti-Magic Shell at the right time, it would not have been possible to survive certain phases.
It took Venn about 50 attempts to successfully implement his strategy. The kill attempt lasted almost an hour and can also be found on YouTube.

What makes this success so special? According to icy-veins.com, it has been about seven years since a player managed to defeat a raid boss of the current tier level on heroic difficulty. During the Legion expansion, this feat was accomplished by the WoW legend Rextroy on several bosses.

In response to the last post, Venn reveals that Rextroy had been his inspiration for his solo raid runs. By the way: Rextroy is also back in World of Warcraft after a long break.
