A player of The First Descendant has to resort to unworthy means to play the game with his friend. Only through a lie can he persuade his buddy to play the campaign together.
Which player is it about? The Reddit user MMXXIV-VII-II shares in a post on Reddit that The First Descendant brings him great joy, and he plays the shooter extensively because of that. He likely belongs to the players who find fun in the game despite some criticisms.
He enjoys the game even more in cooperative mode. He wanted to play the campaign together with a good friend. However, there was a problem. The friend in question has very limited time. Due to his relationship with his partner, he only has about 30-60 minutes of gaming time available each day. He only wants to invest the little time he has into games that he has “discovered himself.”
So, the Reddit user MMXXIV-VII-II waited until his friend discovered the game for himself. Afterwards, the two of them began playing the campaign together. What the friend didn’t know: He is a victim of a lie that was necessary to get him to play along.
Is a white lie acceptable?
What was the lie? The friend believed he had discovered The First Descendant first and showed it to his buddy. In truth, user MMXXIV-VII-II had known about the game long ago. As he writes in his Reddit post, he had been looking forward to the shooter for a long time and was waiting for it.
Of course, he didn’t want to wait until his friend discovered the game himself, and so he started playing. And he did so extensively. He boasts a proud 15 characters, most of whom are already at the maximum level of 40.
However, his friend wasn’t supposed to know this. It would have immediately destroyed his motivation, which is why MMXXIV-VII-II resorted to a white lie. He claimed to be playing only one character – the one from their joint co-op session. This character is at level 26, which is on par with the friend’s character.
This way, the co-player stays motivated and has fun in the game. MMXXIV-VII-II admits on Reddit that he lied to continue playing The First Descendant outside of co-op sessions. He simply enjoys the game too much to play it only a few hours a week.
What does the community think? MMXXIV-VI-II is aware of his actions and writes: “Does this make me a bad person? Probably.”
