A modified setting in Diablo 4 makes the game look significantly more stylish and realistic. A player introduces the trick and is thrilled by it. This trick is available to anyone who has a reasonably current Nvidia graphics card.
A player posted a video on Reddit where he shows how to open the GeForce Experience overlay and change a setting, with surprisingly significant consequences:
Whereas the game previously looked quite gray and lifeless, Diablo 4 now offers much richer colors and bolder effects after the adjustment. The player explains that he cannot go back to the old setting.
Diablo 4 will already receive better graphics natively in early 2024:
Nvidia filters make the game look significantly better for free
What is behind this feature? The setting is based on a function called “NVIDIA Freestyle Filters”. This is an option that Nvidia has integrated into its GeForce Experience
software and its overlay.
With this, you can apply various filters over your games directly while playing: You can adjust color and saturation in the game without using the game settings themselves. You can find a list of supported games directly at Nvidia in an official list. However, be careful: The list is quite comprehensive.
Additionally, it’s practical: While some features, such as Frame Generation, are limited to the new 4000 series graphics cards, the “NVIDIA Freestyle Filters” can also be used by older Nvidia GPUs, like the popular GTX 1000 series.
This is what the change looks like for the user:
Is there also a disadvantage? Yes, because “NVIDIA Freestyle” does not work with competitor graphics cards, which is not really surprising. There are also options for sharpening graphics or custom color adjustments in AMD’s Adrenalin software, but the options from Nvidia are definitely more extensive.
