While the release of Monster Hunter Wilds is eagerly awaited on February 28, 2025, another new Monster Hunter has now been announced. With Monster Hunter Outlanders, a mobile offshoot of the series is set to be released, featuring an open world and focusing on the survival genre.
What is currently known? “Monster Hunter Outlanders” will be free to play on Android and iOS, featuring in-app purchases. There is currently no exact release timeframe, but there are expected to be several playtests beforehand, which interested monster hunters can participate in.
The entire project is being developed by Capcom and the developer team from TiMi Studio Group. The latter is already known for games like Pokémon Unite or Call of Duty Mobile. Monster Hunter Outlanders is said to take a more original approach than Monster Hunter NOW, another mobile game in the Monster Hunter universe that is more akin to titles like Pokémon GO.

What does the trailer show? The video features various landscapes and biomes through which you can move in the familiar manner of running, climbing, hanging, and sliding. Additionally, catapults and gliders will be among your means of transportation.
Well-known monsters and armor that indicate this, such as Rathalos, Anjanath, and Great Jagras, are also recognizable. In the end, a map in a book can be seen, which presumably points to the map of the open world.
What contents will there be? Monster Hunter Outlanders aims to provide players with a “complete package” that makes all the beloved features of the franchise playable on smartphones or tablets, clearly distinguishing itself from Monster Hunter NOW. The game will be playable both solo and in multiplayer.
There will be an open world with classic monster hunts, as known from other parts of Monster Hunter. The weapons and armor will also be based on the known parts.
In addition to the Felyne companions, other animal companions will be introduced to assist you in your hunts. For instance, you may have a little bird or a monkey by your side.
You will also encounter various characters during the story. Unlike in other parts, these will not only be your allies but are expected to be playable characters as well.
