A new first-person shooter called “Straftat” was released in October on Steam, which can convince a large part of its players.
What kind of game is this? Straftat is a new first-person shooter on Steam that was released on October 24 – just one day before the release of CoD Black Ops 6.
There are 70 maps and many different weapons, but only a single mode: 1v1. In Straftat, unlike in Call of Duty, you can only play 1v1 duels. So you have no chance to blame your teammates for a loss.
A match consists of several rounds that end when you have eliminated your opponent. Every few rounds, the map also changes. Each map features a different selection of weapons that you can find and use in your duel.
Visually, the PvP shooter looks very outdated and resembles a 20-year-old Counter-Strike. However, Straftat is only 4 GB in size and free to play – provided you are at least 18 years old.
Here you can watch a trailer for Straftat:
How is the game received? On Steam, Straftat has impressive ratings. A strong 98% of nearly 600 reviews are positive. In total, only 8 people have written a negative review (as of October 28, 2024).
Many of the Steam reviews are simply convinced that the shooter is fun and the gameplay feels good. Some are reminded of classic shooters like Quake and Unreal Tournament. Some players find the 1v1 format unique. It invites you to download Straftat for a few quick 1v1s against friends.
The few negative reviews complain, for example, that you cannot edit and customize the crosshair and that there is “no innovation in gunplay”.
Straftat is certainly not one of the best shooters you can play on Steam. But it is a small, fun game that delivers exactly what it promises: You can quickly download it and play against your friends.
So, if your group of friends is debating again who among you is the best shooter player, you can find out in quick 1v1s in Straftat. You can find the best shooters you can currently play here: The 25 best shooters of 2024 – These PvP and PvE games impress with their gameplay
