In June, a new series in the Star Wars universe will start on Disney+. What fans can expect is now shown in a first trailer.
Which series has been announced? The Acolyte is the name of the new series on Disney+, which will take place in the Star Wars universe. A few days ago, a first poster for the series with a release date was released, and today the trailer followed, showing the new heroes in action for the first time.
When is The Acolyte supposed to be released? The series is set to launch on June 4, 2024, on Disney+. This was already announced by a released poster a few days ago. On this, you can see the grip of a lightsaber, but instead of a blade, there are bloodstains.
Together with the lettering, it can be inferred that the plot could be quite dark. It reads: “In an Age of Light, A Darkness rises,” which means: In the age of light, darkness rises.
What is known about the plot? The Acolyte will take place decades before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and during the absolute peak of the Jedi Order. So during the time of the High Republic, while the Jedi are deployed as rangers and protectors. Among other things, the Jedi protect the edge of the republic from a pirate group called Nihil.
Fans will also be able to witness the resurgence of the Sith Order here.
The Acolyte follows a respected Jedi Master, played by South Korean actor Lee Jung-Jae. Many will probably recognize him from his lead role in Squid Game.
While investigating a shocking series of crimes, he encounters a young warrior (Amandla Stenberg) who is connected to his own past. Together, they must follow a path that reveals to them that forces are at work wanting to conceal the truth.
Which actors will also be involved? For some fans, Lee Jung-Jae probably already represents a great surprise. However, several other actors are already known, one of whom you may recognize from the films.
Joonas Suotamo has portrayed Chewbacca since 2015. He will also play a Wookiee in the series. However, it is not yet known if this will be Chewbacca.
