Which game is this about? Black State is a new story-based single-player third-person shooter. It is being developed by Motion Blur Studio. When exactly the game will be released and on which platforms you can play it is not yet known.
However, you can now take a first look at the concept, graphics, and some gameplay of the game in the first trailer:
What can you expect? At first glance of the trailer, the game slightly reminds one of Metal Gear Solid, although it aims to stand out with a fresh concept. The shooter is being developed with Unreal Engine 5, which already gives a really good impression graphically.
In Black State, a group of secretive scientists hires you to go on a mysterious mission. After a catastrophic event, you are to uncover the truth behind it while also freeing some prisoners. The catch is the doors that occasionally block your way. Because these are portals that lead you to new and uncertain locations.
On the official website, the developers describe this as “real-time door mechanics.” Because the doors not only lead you to unknown places but also serve as a seamless transition between levels. This way, Black State aims to avoid loading screens. The doors are also supposed to prevent the player experience from becoming repetitive, as they are said to open in different locations each time.
The community remains cautious for now
How is it being received? The community is not entirely sure based on the reactions under the trailer (via YouTube). Although the shooter looks interesting and quite stylish at first glance, players are remaining cautious.
It seems that many are hoping for more from the gameplay. One user feels that it seems like the entire budget went into the graphics, but not into the gameplay. Other users compare the gameplay to games from 2010 to 2012, but with Unreal Engine 5.
“Strong The Day Before vibes,” writes another user in their comment. However, it is still too early to say whether Black State will face a similar flop.
