Next month, Netflix will release the new “Rebel Moon – Part 1: Son of Fire“ film by director Zack Snyder. Originally, this sci-fi project was intended for the “Star Wars” franchise but was rejected by Disney.
What is Rebel Moon Part 1 about?The story revolves around the orphan Kora. She leads a peaceful life in a colony on the edge of the galaxy. But one day, the ruler Balisarius marches in with his soldiers and occupies Kora’s homeland.
Kora wants to free her homeland from the grasp of the empire. She embarks on a journey to find warriors to assist her in the rebellion against the powerful oppressor.

The story of Rebel Moon is inspired by The Seven Samurai, but is often referred to as Zack Snyder’s Star Wars.
This is because director Zack Snyder originally pitched the sci-fi project to Disney. It was meant to enhance the Star Wars universe with movies for an adult audience.
But the pitch was rejected by Disney. So Snyder brought on writers Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300) and turned the pitch into a complete film project (via Moviepilot).
How many parts will Rebel Moon have? There are supposed to be two films. The first part, Son of Fire, deals with how Kora recruits the various warriors for her mission. The second film, The Scar Maker, will then show the execution of her plan.

When will Rebel Moon Part 2 be released? Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scar Maker will be available on Netflix from April 19, 2024.
