With Dawntrail, it is possible in Final Fantasy XIV to collect an outfit that makes players look like a cute mascot. Thanks to the new option to dye the clothing even more individually, the outfit can be customized according to one’s wishes. But beware of certain color combinations if you don’t want to scare anyone.
What kind of costume is this? The outfit consists of two different pieces of clothing, the Mica head and the Mica suit. With the Dawntrail update, it is now possible to dye the armor parts with up to two colors.
MeinMMO author Fabienne Kissel dared to dye, only to find that there is a truly terrible color combination for the costume. If you decide to create a black-red suit, we have to warn you. Because from the cute chipmunk, it turns into a gruesome nightmare:

Especially with its wide-open eyes, the chipmunk looks like it could jump at our throats at any moment. If you want to scare other players or just prepare for Halloween, this could be a possible candidate for your next killer outfit.
You can watch the new expansion Dawntrail in the following trailer:
Here’s how you can become the nightmare chipmunk in FF14
How do I obtain the outfit? You can obtain the outfit by collecting Mica items in the FATE “Murderous Mascot.” The FATE is located in the area Living Memory, which you can find on the continent of the new Dawntrail expansion.
However, to trigger this FATE, you need to complete two other FATES beforehand:
- Mascot March (Coordinates: X: 35, Y:34)
- Mascot Chaos (Coordinates: X: 35, Y: 34)
To reach the FATES, you need to have unlocked the flying function for the area. Once you have completed the FATES, “Mica, the Magical Moo” will appear at a random time as another FATE. The coordinates for him are X: 37.2, Y: 33.3.
The boss is so strong that you cannot take him on alone. Therefore, gather a team or wait until enough players gather to defeat him.
If you defeat Mica, you will receive the item “Mica Magicog.” Depending on your contribution to the victory, you can receive two to six of these items per FATE. If you collect enough of them, you can exchange them for the outfit at Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y: 13.5). You need four “Mica Magicog” for the Mica head and six of these items for the suit.
The new dyeing option is a great way for players to design their unique clothing. However, Dawntrail has other new features that weigh heavy on the mind. MeinMMO editor Sophia Weiß explains in an article why she misses the MMO aspect: Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail shows that the MMORPG is increasingly becoming a single player experience
