Anyone who enjoys MMORPGs has had little to laugh about in recent years. Since Lost Ark in 2022, no major new MMORPG has launched in the West. Games like Throne and Liberty, Tarisland, or Ashes of Creation are still awaited: But a new MMORPG has successfully launched in 2024, Ravendawn. And they are now planning a new update.
What kind of game is Ravendawn?
- Ravendawn is an open-world sandbox MMORPG that launched for PC on January 16. The game is available only on its own client, not on Steam.
- The game launched significantly more successfully than expected. However, it seems that Ravendawn Online has run out of steam just a few months after the release. Players criticized a housing system that didn’t work (via reddit) – by March, the hype had virtually disappeared, as the data from Google Trends shows.
- The developers are now planning to counteract this with a new update.
Developers plan major update with many features:
This is the new update: Originally, a PvP update called Aether Rifts was planned. The update has now been expanded further and will introduce PvE elements alongside the new PvP systems (via ravendawn).
The new PvP systems are:
- Guild Wars
- Forts and Castles
- Aether Rifts for 1v1 or 2v2 battles
For PvE, they are planning:
- An improved target system
- A revised aggro system that allows tanks to shine
- Epic world bosses
- And group-focused boss fights
The developers promise that the update will really be worth the wait. They are working hard to provide the community with a great experience.
In the coming weeks, they plan to release more teasers about the update every Tuesday until it is finally ready to launch.
The secret third MMORPG market
Why isn’t there any news about the MMORPG? Here in the West, in the English-speaking world, the MMORPG Ravendawn Online plays only a minor role, partly because it lacks a release on Steam.
Ravendawn Online is also in the same tradition as the German MMORPG Tibia.
There is a separate MMORPG market for these games, so to speak, a third market alongside the West and Asia: These games focus on Brazil, Poland, and Venezuela. Therefore, the Ravendawn homepage is available in 3 languages: English, Portuguese, and Polish.
Ravendawn Online is indeed most represented in these 3 countries. It is an interesting phenomenon that Tibia and its successors have managed to establish themselves precisely in these countries: Rich Brazilian wants to buy the strongest character in the German MMORPG – owner has played it for 16 years, asking for €100,000
