This week, almost all headlines revolved around New World, which even displaced CS:GO from the number one spot on Steam just a day after its release. However, there has also been a lot happening with other MMORPGs, which we would like to highlight in this weekly recap.
The highlight and the controversy of the week: On September 28, New World celebrated its release and dominated the headlines:
- Players experienced the release in various ways. Those who could log in often had a good experience. However, the queues were extremely long. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch was understandably very upset about the launch.
- Nonetheless, New World made it to number 2 on Steam on its first day. In peak times, the title reached number 1 on Steam with over 865,000 concurrent players (via SteamDB).
- Several new servers have been released, and the developers promised free character transfers so players can game on the new servers.
- You can find all our guides, tips, tricks, and builds for New World summarized here.
The discussion of the week: In WoW, sexy women were transformed into handsome men in a dungeon. However, most comments from our readers are largely negative, as they do not see it as equality or a fight against sexism.
