In September, Rune, a Viking MMO, is set to enter Early Access on Steam. The dark and bloody game features the Viking apocalypse Ragnarök as its setting.
Was there not a game called Rune before? Indeed, the developers of Human Head Studios previously released a game named Rune. In 2000, you traversed the world as your Viking hero Ragnar, trying to prevent the cunning god Loki from freeing himself and causing the world’s end.
Apparently, that did not succeed in the long run, as in the new Rune, Ragnarök, the end of the world from Norse legends, has already occurred.
Bloody MMO with Vikings after the Apocalypse
What is Rune about? In the current Rune game, Ragnarök has already taken place. Loki has been freed, and the gods and mortals had nothing to counter the hordes of giants and undead.
However, gods and humans have not been completely wiped out. Therefore, the fight for survival in a devastated world continues. The goal will be to kill the god Loki and thus end Ragnarök.
To do this, you need to become skilled warriors and earn the favor of a chosen god, such as Thor, Hel, or Odin.
Action-Sandbox-MMO
What kind of game is Rune? Rune is a sandbox MMO that allows you to explore the dark world alone or in groups and clans (likely guilds) as a Viking. You will slay monsters or other players in PvP. There is said to be a crafting and housing system as well. You can also sail with typical Viking longships.
How does Rune play? Rune features an action combat system reminiscent of melee fighters like For Honor. The battles against monsters and players are quite bloody.
Early Access on Steam
When is Rune coming out? Rune will be available on Steam, entering Early Access on September 19, 2018.
How much does Rune cost? The Early Access is not free. To participate, you must purchase a founder’s package. These are available for €29, €39, and €59. Depending on the price category, there are additional contents like warrior weapons, armor, or even ships.
Where can I download Rune? You can purchase and download Rune on its related Steam page starting September 19.
