Some testers of Throne and Liberty have apparently broken the NDA and revealed details. In particular, the combat system is concerning. Additionally, New World has shown the new Battle Pass, there are discussions about the endgame in WoW, and Guild Wars 2 has brought a new patch. All of this in the weekly review.
The highlight of the week:
- Throne and Liberty is said to have a very static combat system and only a weak story. The focus is entirely on PvP, even with player kills without punishment.
- A new sandbox MMORPG, Pax Dei, has been announced by former EVE developers. It will be released on Steam, focusing on a strong housing system and many details like inscriptions on rings.
- Blue Protocol has released a new benchmark tool. You can download it from the Japanese website, and there are no regional restrictions either. There, you can test whether your system can handle the new MMORPG well, and you can also create a character and even save the settings (via Blue Protocol).
The stir of the week: Cortyn warns that the endgame of WoW is dying and Blizzard needs to react quickly.
The discussion of the week: An MMORPG streamer says he was offered 250,000 Euros for his main character, but he declined. Would you have accepted?
WoW and New World spark discussions
What happened with the big MMORPGs:
- WoW advertised with its own home and sparked new housing discussions. Additionally, the next major update Patch 10.7 will be released, and we have summarized everything. We have also updated our guide to making gold.
- Black Desert reveals which are currently the most popular classes. Additionally, BDO is currently available for free on Steam.
- A veteran in Lost Ark shares how he took care of newcomers for a week. We have also updated our list of essential tools for Lost Ark.
- From March 2nd to March 7th, the Explorer Event is taking place in ESO, which brings you extra XP and Gold (via ESO).
- Guild Wars 2 has released the first completely new content since February 2022, but the scope is somewhat disappointing. Here you can watch the trailer:
What happened with the small MMORPGs:
- Is New World pay-to-win with the new season pass? We took a closer look. We have also adjusted the tier list for the weapons.
- In ArcheAge Unchained, there is now a reward for being the biggest crook and spending the most time in prison.
- With Bless Global, a new MMORPG was released on Steam, which was controversially discussed solely because of its name. In the meantime, Steam has removed it, supposedly because cryptocurrency was offered as a reward for good reviews (via MassivelyOP).
- The sandbox MMORPG Mortal Online 2 has released elemental mages and some new content (via Steam).
- The new ArcheAge War will be released on March 21 in Korea. It is unclear when it will come to us. It will be a nearly pure PvP MMORPG focused on large battles on land and at sea.
- Embers Adrift has released its largest patch since release. A new video presents it, and there’s also a look ahead at the March update (via YouTube).
- In EVE Online, you can be part of an anniversary mosaic. To do this, you just need to log in by March 22nd and complete 3 tasks (via MassivelyOP).
What happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen was a great hope for many in the PvE MMORPGs. However, the latest gameplay, recorded 8 years after the start of development, disappoints many.
- What is the status of the release and content of Ashes of Creation? We have summarized everything important.
- Will Throne and Liberty be released on Steam like the other Amazon MMORPGs? We investigated.
- Mad World, a spooky 2D perspective MMORPG, is confident it will release in June 2023 (via Discord).
