With the High Isle update, the developers of The Elder Scrolls Online brought the Oakensoul Ring into the game. PvE fans are happy about the useful buffs, while PvP players complain that the ring is too strong and that you have no chance without it.
What kind of item is this? It is a Mythic item that all players want since the High Isle update. The Oakensoul Ring is great for solo-PvE as it provides you with valuable buffs.
To craft the ring, you need to collect a total of 5 traces. Then the coveted ring is automatically created in your inventory and you can equip it. However, it cannot be combined.
These are the effects of the Oakensoul Ring:
- Greater Fury – increases damage dealt by 10%
- Greater Courage – increases weapon and spell damage by 430
- Greater Brutality / Sorcery – increases weapon and spell power by 20%
- Greater Wildness – increases critical weapon hits
- Greater Might – increases critical damage by 20%
- Greater Protection – reduces damage taken by 10%
- Greater Resolve – increases physical resistance and spell resistance by 5948
- Greater Heroism – grants 3 ultimate power every 1.5 seconds
- Lesser Valor – increases health regeneration by 15%
- Lesser Intellect – increases Magicka regeneration by 15%
- Lesser Stamina – increases Stamina regeneration by 15%
Since almost all players want the Oakensoul Ring, farming has looked very chaotic since the update.

The item ruins PvP gameplay for some players
While wearing the Oakensoul Ring in PvP does not automatically make you a god, you are still stronger. With the ring, you are very resilient, nimble, have high crit values, and deal enormous damage. Players without the ring are clearly at a disadvantage.
Some classes are now harder to play in PvP because opponents deal too much damage with the ring and are constantly down. This is particularly true for the necromancer.
As a result, many players are dissatisfied and wish for the ring to be weakened in the next update or to be disabled in PvP. This is what the reddit community says:

- AngryAmour: “Disable the ring in PvP but leave everything else as is.”
- Fhritz_: “Some of the buffs need to be disabled in PvP. They are way too strong.”
- Shuck-Lee: “The ring is good for PvE, but disable it for PvP. It makes the worst builds relevant, regardless of what sets are worn.”
The community is also discussing the fact that fights with the ring equipped are too easy. Some find the gameplay too boring because they hardly have to do anything anymore.
PvE fans love the ring
Players who focus on PvE have a much better reception of the Oakensoul Ring. While some still find it boring, most are enthusiastic.
Especially users with physical disabilities are happy not to have to press so many buttons anymore. For them, the gameplay is now easier.

Even players without physical disabilities appreciate the Oakensoul Ring in PvE. It makes it easier for them to tackle difficult bosses. Here’s what PvE fans say:
- HickRarrison says: “Honestly, the ring eliminates some of the problems I have in combat in ESO. The constant buffing and weapon switching becomes exhausting after a while.”
- Colest says: “The popularity of the ring indicates that players don’t find it very fun to trigger 3 to 5 buffs again every 20 seconds.”
- GradeTimely says: “I really hope they don’t nerf the ring. Otherwise, they will lose an ESO+ member.”
